Back in February of this year, I had the opportunity to not only test the new SS18 collection but meet the team from Copenhagen.
The GOSH brand is a totally family run business since 1945. Dad (Bo Tjellesen) is the CEO, mom runs the show, daughter (Bolette Tjellesen) makeup artist and junior key account manager, and twin brother is in the works too. It was an incredible experience to meet this driven family in Cape Town as they announced the new SS18 collection at Foschini, Tygervalley Mall. GOSH has recently partnered with the Foschini group, alongside Truworths and Edgars, and is now available in selected stores nationwide and online.
It was a phenomenal evening with delicious canapés, bubbly chats and hard-hitting questions, mainly on colour diversity, especially in the face category and model selection in campaigns. As GOSH is still new to the African market they were aware of the importance of diversity and to be inclusive of all nationalities, so much so that they have already started creating social media content featuring women of colour. Now that is fast! So let's get into what's new and trending for GOSH Copenhagen.
Here's what GOSH shared with us at the PR event:
FACE:
FOUNDATION PLUS+ CREAMY COMPACT HIGH COVERAGE
A full coverage foundation on the go. This compact with mirror and sponge applicator is a perfect handbag sized touch-up essential. A cream to powder formulation suitable for all skin types. A little goes a long way. Available in only four shades it might not cater for all but it's sure to be a popular travel-buddy once the shade range is extended.
MIX & FIX COLOUR DROPS
A foundation changing liquid will customise any liquid foundation. Available in four shades it blends effortlessly without changing the finish. Each shade has its own effect:
001 Light; will lighten your foundation or mix with concealer to highlight.
002 Green; will neutralize redness, or can be used as a colour corrector on bare skin.
003 Purple; will brighten dullness.
004 Dark; will deepen the foundation or use as a liquid contour.
EYES:
METAL EYES
These metallic liners are super soft and blendable but sets in a few seconds to a waterproof, non-flaky and smudge-proof finish. Perfect for a dramatic smudged out smoky eye, lower liner or just a metallic pop in the waterline. Available in five vibrant metallic shades including my fave 003 Tiger Eye, a warm copper, and 005 Turquoise.
EYE XPRESSION
A series of quad eyeshadow palette that is super blendable with loads of colour payoff. Each palette has a combination of matte and shimmer shadows to achieve any desired look from daytime-realness to glam-goddess. The new addition to the squad is my new favourite, the 004 The Four Elements. A combination of on-trend neutrals and a pop of turquoise blue matte shadow.
FAKE IT! LASH PRIMER
So we have a primer for our skin to ensure an even and longer-lasting foundation application, but have you ever thought of a lash primer? FAKE IT! is exactly that, but in grey. A simple change in colour makes a massive difference as most primers are white and can be a little difficult to cover at times. This nourishing and volumising formula with help lift, fill and separate your lashes making them look longer, stronger and fuller.
CATCHY EYES WATERPROOF MASCARA
This is the upgraded waterproof formula of GOSH's core mascara and one of my go-to's. The rubber 'banana' shape brush is where it's at. Easy to apply, curls, separates and defines the lash for that natural look.
BLOWN AWAY MASCARA
This is for the extreme volume lovers. A rich black formula is buildable without clumping and dries smudge-proof. The magic of this mascara is the medium/ hard plastic brush with an 'hour-glass' shape to thicken and define the lashes.
LIPS:
LIQUID MATTE LIPS
This is one of my favourite liquid lipsticks on the market, besides the affordable price point it is available in a beautiful selection of wearable shades and dries smudge-proof with an incredible colour pay-off. 009 The Red is the new addition to the collection in a deep burnt red shade.
VELVET TOUCH LIPSTICK
A vitamin E enriched lipstick available in two finishes. 024 The Red is a matte finish and is in the same shade as the 009 Liquid Matte Lips. The bullet has less of an instant colour payoff, but buildable to your desired look.
THE ULTIMATE LIPLINER – WITH A TWIST
This is the newcomer to the GOSH lip category. A waterproof retractable lipliner available in six shades ensures an easy outline application and delivers a long-lasting result. With a soft and creamy formula, the lipliner glides on with precision and dries matte. The pencil is equipped with a rubber smudger at the other end to soften the liner through the entire lip.
VELVET TOUCH LIPLINER WATERPROOF
A vitamin E enriched and Jojoba Oil enriched lipliner has incredible pigmentation and offers a waterproof finish. 016 The Red is the new addition completing the new red collection.
LIP OIL
This is neither a gloss or a balm. A combination of oils and vitamins work as a conditioner for the lips for total hydration. The lip oils are available in three tints and a clear finish. The oils melt into the lips leaving a natural finish. Use on bare lips or as a lipstick topper for that additional definition.
I am very grateful and humbled by the incredible GOSH family and Bacher & Co. team for all the support in my #RebuildMyKit campaign and including me in their press squad. The brand is absolutely incredible and I can't stop talking or referring the products to all my friends, family and clients. I look forward to great things from the brand especially their 'African' inclusive direction in shade formulation and model diversity. Who knows I might be lucky enough to collaborate with the team soon, here's hoping!
